Appraisal Day raises money for Parkinson's patients
YORK ? An Antiques Appraisal Day Event was held April 6 at Atlantic Design Center in York to benefit the American Parkinson Disease Association.
The event brought in attendees from as far away as Portland and Stratham, N.H.
Appraisers Hap Moore and Lee Horowitz valued everything from art and furniture to currency, books and jewelry, and the event raised $639 for needed services for Parkinson's patients and their families in Maine. The money will help 35 people attend educational events for free, help three families receive respite care in their homes, and help one family receive 24 hours of help for a weekend.
Lillian G. Scenna, Maine Health Community Education program coordinator for the American Parkinson Disease Association, said she was happy to have the opportunity to raise awareness of Parkinson's disease.
