Someone told me I should be able to adopt a child from a disrupted adoption, which would be considered a private adoption and thus wouldn't need to work with those same regulations. Of course, being a private adoption, there are no adoption subsidies or financial help from the State, but that's fine as I want to adopt for the child, not for any other reason!!!
I've been in contact with a family who wants to disrupt their adoption and after sharing about our families with each other, I really want to take in this boy, as does the family.
I contacted the agency that did my last homestudies, this time though the private adoption section, and they told me they would be unwilling to update my homestudy for this situation, saying they are going to go by those foster care guidelines. So frustrating because I've remained in contact with this agency, having worked with them for three seperate adoptions of six kids total since 2004, and even tho updates on the family and kids aren't mandatory (nor even requested) I have always kept them updating on the kids, and have always been in good standing with them.
I contacted several other agencies in my area, one has responded with the same thing, the rest haven't responded at all.
It is so frustrating as this boy's family is trying to do right by finding a home more suited to his needs, and I really think he'd do well here. I am so eager to help! And yet these agencies aren't willing to work with me! I understand that not all families can operate on the level I do (as far as number of kids) but I've proven to them time and again that I CAN, my kids are doing amazingly well, and it apparently means nothing.
Now it looks like I"m out of options in helping this boy and his family.
